It
is no news that Bayelsa State is being represented in the ongoing
National Festival of Arts & Culture (NAFEST2018) in Port Harcourt,
Rivers State. But, we are sad to report from this handle that they have
been paid far below their statutory duty-tour allowances even if the sum
of about N27 million naira was approved by the government.
A source who
begged to remain anonymous complained bitterly that she might not be
able to represent Bayelsa State wholeheartedly in the future NAFESTs.
She further lamented that N84,000 paid to a senior civil servant as
duty-tour allowance to represent a state like Bayelsa for seven days is
ungodly.
She therefore calls on the State Government to intervene else
it may affect its performance in the ongoing National Festival of Arts & Culture(NAFEST2018).
